"Marcha Migrante IX "NI UNA MUERTE/DEPORTACION MAS, JUSTICIA!" MICAELA SAUCEDO, PRESENTE! LUIS MORONES PRESENTE ! On Sunday, February 2nd, Border Angels began Marcha Migrante IX at Friendship Park/Parque Playas de Tijuana, joined by deported veterans, families, children. On our amazing journey we ate, slept, and shared communion, stories and fellowship with our migrant brothers and sisters. We served them breakfast, laughed, cried and once again visited the canals that our dear friend MICALELA SAUCEDO lovingly taught us to do. We had POSADA @ migrant shelters in Tijuana, Tecate and Mexicali. We were also hosted by our friend Mar @ Playas de Tijuana and visited an orphanage with friend Jose Yenque. On our first day Jose and his Braceros joined us at playas and our friend Jose Luis Cisneros came to join us. It was good to see Jose Luis as we worked closely with his case after he was almost beat to death in a horrific hate crime that took place in Boulevard, California in 2002. On Monday we, helped serve more than 1,300 migrants at Desayunador Padre Chave ! Visited migrants @ Casa Refugio Micaela Saucedo, we will continue our support even further. We had a wonderful posada at Casa Migrante ,hosted by father Pat. During the Marcha we also met with new Tijuana Mayor, Jorge Astiazaran, who agreed to take up Jose Luis's, case and also offered a scholarship to his son and additional medical attention for Jose Luis ! When we met with Tecate Mayor Cesar Moreno we shared our concern of the unfit location that migrants from Canal had been sent to. They agreed to open a new migrant shelter! While in Mexicali we pleaded for the city to provide electricity to the Hotel Migrante. Many deported migrants joined us on this Marcha; Johnny, who lived most of his life in California, Hector, who served the military in US, and Francisco, they all want to get back to their families in US. We heard many other heart breaking stories, that we will not forget. We were also joined by activists from as far away as Chicago, Buddy, and from Utah, Alicia. From the Inland Empire, Lupe and Edith, and from Los Angeles, San Diego, Tijuana, and Mexicali, we were joined by Mar, Alberto, Octavio, Estela, Sara, Troy, Embirly, Marcus and baby brother, Hugo and his mom, Gaba, Jose Garcia, Jose Yenque, Jose Luis Cisneros, Roberto, Jorge Armando, Siete, Johnny, John, Anita, Susan, Francisco, Sergio, Silvia, Karina and her mom and brother, (gracias for donated blankets), many international media friends, Pamela Calore, who always does such great work with pictures and videos. Thanks to all of you as there is lots of work ahead and we continue to ask for JUSTICIA. We don't want more Walls or Migra we want humane policies, dignity and respect for all our migrant brothers and sisters on both sides of the border. SI SE PUEDE We will continue to share actions, stories and photos as you never know which action, photo, story or situation will be the one that finally delivers paz y justicia for all.
